Examples are adduced of practical implementation of the results of researches carried out by Engine & Heating Plant Department of MEI in various military power engineering sectors.- table, 4 ill., 5 ref.
Keywords: diesel engines, switchable turboblowers, mathematical model, supercharge optimization. Engine mathematical model has been developed to facilitate analysis of engine characteristics. The model is based on a set of non-linear equations. The model enables optimization of switching algorithm for individual turboblowers. Discrepancy between test and analytical results did not exceed 3%.- table, 3 ill., 11 ref.
Keywords: engines, lubricant solid film for piston skirt, molybdenum disulphide, indicated efficiency, mechanical efficiency, specific fuel consumption. A comparative analysis is offered of engine performance with \ without lubricant solid film for piston skirt, based on molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) and polymer binder. The lubricant is shown to improve engine performance due to catalytic effect of MoS2-based coating on fuel combustion.- table, 7 ill., 11 ref.
Keywords: two-stroke petrol engine, direct fuel injection, variable air/fuel ratio, control system. A two-stroke petrol engine with direct fuel injection was added with experimental power control system based on variable air/fuel ratio. Test results demonstrated implementation of control system in question as a way to raise effective output and fuel efficiency by 1020 %, while noxious emissions are reduced by 2 to 7 times.- table, 13 ill., 3 ref.
Keywords: petrol engines, water injection, isochoric heat supply, improvement of thermal efficiency. The idea behind the research in question is improvement of thermal efficiency of petrol engine with isochoric heat supply with water injection into inlet air flow. This is a way to increase expansion work due to phase transition of water to vapour and enhancement of combustion at afterburning stage. The analysis resulted in finding of optimum water charge that entails increase in compression ratio to 14, and excess air ratio to 1.15, thus enhancing engine fuel efficiency.- table, 6 ill., 12 ref.
Keywords: reciprocating engine, diagnostic method, indirect diagnostic variables, control algorithm. A method is offered that enables engine diagnostics by a set of indirect diagnostic variables. Optimal algorithm of engine operability control is derived based on a functional diagnostic model. The algorithm may be easily converted into a computational code, so as to improve diagnostic accuracy for an engine and its components.- table, 2 ill., 7 ref.
